Can I send out a great big Hooray to Juli for being the original "Million Dollar Baby"? And while she's basking in the spotlight of Sports Illustrated, Access Hollywood & Extra (look for Evangenitals plugs everywhere), you'll probably find me hiding in the basement tooling away in my homespun studio, imperfecting tracks for our ever-expanding debut album as well as my own forthcoming record "Dark Pony".
At the moment, I'm sparring with the studio version of "Que Queg". Originally recorded in May at Blair Lamb's Del Boca Vista Studios in South Pasadena, the raw tapes were recently handed over to me and its been quite a task disassembling the mess we made. We're still so very green. But the track offers plenty of promise. I've already put down some more guitars and I'll have Juli come in for new vocals this week.
An exciting part of these sessions was the addition of Geoff Brandin on lap steel guitar. A real pro. I asked him to come in for the original recordings and he just knocked it out of the park. Folks are going to fucking flip when this version drops!
Also currently recording Juli's new TV theme song "Diggin It". I really enjoy this one. Playful and ridiculously catchy. Plus I get alot of "star time" with my Casio keyboard! A new sound for the band. We played it last night for our One Year Anniversary Show and the crowd went nuts for my big solo. Ha! Finally recognized as the genius I think I am!
Lastly, If ya haven't heard, I've taken on the task of being the band's resident cartoonist. Given all the hootin' and hollerin' we do on and off stage, it seemed like a no-brainer. Check out "EvangeniTales" every week right here or catch us on MySpace!
